HUE
Educational Technology Strategy (Learning through technology)

HUE is implementing a new educational technology strategy for the academic year 2020/2021. We have developed a two-way interactive platform where students can find academic management, learning management and virtual classrooms through SDS (Student Data Sync) to provide hybrid learning utilizing Office 365 and Microsoft Teams. This hybrid model fluidly combines the best of onsite learning and online learning, with digital engagement. Furthermore, it is a way of combining traditional classroom experiences, experiential learning objectives, and digital course delivery that emphasizes using the best option for each learning objective. Unlike other learning models which lacks instant feedback, interactions with students, real time collaboration and motivation such as YouTube channels and any one-way interactive platform where students can only view or download educational materials and resources.

Office 365 and Microsoft Teams is the perfect tool for providing continuity and flexibility. Microsoft Teams is the digital hub for hybrid learning environment (onsite and online learning) that simplifies the workflow for both instructors and students to meet virtually for class or study groups, to view course lectures and resources, and to work collectively or individually on assignments and projects. Microsoft Stream, also part of Teams, allows you to create videos and recordings and house them in channels to play on demand. Successful learning is promoted with effective feedback and ongoing assessment. Clear and timely reporting back to the student for progress monitoring and to the instructor for gauging program effectiveness success is also key. These tasks are both easy and manageable when using Microsoft Forms which is a vital component to feedback, assessment and reporting.

HUE equips the students to meet the challenges of the modern workplace and also give them both the agility and the capacity to embrace change in the workplace of the future throughout hybrid learning. These core workplace skills are time management, critical thinking, collaboration, problem-solving, confidence in technical abilities, self-motivation and communication. These transferrable soft skills are crucial in the workplace, regardless of the profession or industry that the student enters. Since career readiness is a significant issue for university students, HUE continues to provide opportunities for students to develop and apply these critical soft skills. We believe we are preparing well-rounded college graduates who can smoothly and successfully transition into both the workplace of today and tomorrow. By embracing career readiness, we believe we are equipping our students for the future.
